Australia crushed India to win the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023
Australia won the ICC cricket World Cup 2023 after beating
India by six wickets in a thrilling manner at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad,
on Sunday.
The mighty Aussies clinched their record extending sixth World
Cup, at least four more than West Indies and India who have two titles each in their
Trophy cabinet.
The majority of a packed crowd arrived at the stadium hoping
to see the host nation end their decade long wait for Major ICC Trophy win.
But it was Australia, who delivered on the day. Earlier, Australia skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and choose to field. The Australian bowling attack combined to turn the screw after a fast paced powerplay, bowling India out for 240.

Before it was India who got off to flier, inspired once more
by Captain Rohit Sharma.
The early loss of Shubman Gill didn’t halt India’s attacking
momentum, as Rohit and Virat racked up runs in thee first 10 overs, with 80
runs coming in the first powerplay, equalling the record for a Men’s Cricket
World Cup final.
However, the departure of the skipper Rohit Sharma for 47 of
31 was followed by Shreyas Iyer for 4 in the very next over.
Looking to rebuild on the tricky surface, Kohli and KL Rahul
bedded in, ensuring India reached at least a competitive total.
But the latter Kohli became Cummins victim after completing
just his half century as he misjudged a ball.
Rahul (66 off 107) continued to play but he didn’t have much
support form the other hand.
Wicket’s fell frequently as Australia bowling attack looked
to press home their advantage, and the final India’s wicket came off the last
ball of the innings, with the total just 240.
Pat Cummins 2/34 from 10 overs without conceding a boundary summed
up the effort for the Aussies pacers, as he said ‘‘Nothing more satisfying than
big crowd go silent.’’ He did it! . with Mitchell Starc taking 3/55 and Josh Hazlewood
2/60, Adam Zampa provided good control through the middle, finishin with 1/44,
while Glenn Maxwell 1/35 in his 6 overs included the crucial wicket of Rohit
Sharma.
The second innings got off a frenetic start,with David
Warner scored 15 runs in the thrilling first over.
And the drama built yet further when the new ball handed to
Mohammad Shami over Mohammad Siraj, he removed Warner(7 off 3) in a bizarre
second over. Then, Bumrah stood up when his team needed him bagging his team’s
second, removing Dangerous Mitchell Marsh(15 off 15) and Steve Smith(4 off 9).
With three of the top four back in the pavilion with the
score at 47/3, India had puled themselves right back into the contest.
But Australia rebuilt as Travis Head led the charge and Labushagne laid anchor the innings, with the opener bringing up his fine fifty.
The pair’s built a formidable 192 runs partnership which guided Australia to
yet another title triumph.
Travis Head trashed Indian bowlers on all parts of the ground
and scored 137 off 120 with 15 fours and 4 sixes, showing no mercy on their opposition.
He was greatly supported by calm and compose Marnus Labushagne as the right hander
played while rotating the strike, and scored his unbeaten fifty (58 off 110).
Travis Head has been awarded man of the match for his
stunning innings which helped Australia to lift the Trophy for sixth time.
From India, Bumrah managed to take 2/43 in his 9 overs and
Shami and Siraj took 2 wickets each for 1/47 in 7 overs and 1/45 in 7 overs
respectively
