Mohammad Shami broke several record as he helped India to reach the Semi-Final

Mohammad Shami has achieved a historic milestones and broke many records as he became the first Indian bowler to claim 7 wickets in an ODI during the all important ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Semi- Final against New Zealand in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Wednesday.

Shami concluded with the figures of 7/57, helping India dismiss the Black Caps for 327 and secure a spot in the world cup final. This performance surpassed the record of Stuart Binny 6/4.

These figures also made a new record for an Indian bowler in World Cups, beating the previous best of 6/23 by Ashish Nehra against England in the 2003 World Cup.

Shami took wickets including those of Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Kane Williamson, Tom Latham, Lockie Ferguson and Tim Southee. With these seven wickets, Shami emerged as the leading wicket-taker in this edition of World Cup.

The right arm pacer set a new record as he became the fastest bowler to claim 50 wickets in history of ODI world cup. Shami achieved this feat in 17 innings, breaking the Australian Fast bowler Mitchell Starc record, who took 19 innings to reach the milestone.

In terms of balls taken, Shami take 795 deliveries to secured his 50 wickets, while Starc took 941. He became the first Indian and 7th overall to complete 50 wickets in the ICC Cricket World Cups.



He became the first bowler to secure 4 five wicket hauls in the World Cups.

Shami seems to be enjoying form of his life, having taken 23 wickets in 6 matches, including three five wickets hauls.

Australia Great Glen McGrath leads the chart with 71 wickets, while Muttiah Muralitharan 68 wickets.
