New Zealand cemented their position in fourth place with a confident five-wicket victory against Sri Lanka in ODI 41 of the ongoing 2023 World Cup, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Chasing 172, New Zealand reached 172/5 in 23.2
overs. with an explosive batting display from the likes of Devon Conway (45),
Daryl Mitchell (43) and Rachin Ravindra (42). . Meanwhile, Angelo

However Mahesh Theekshana led
the way in holding the New Zealand bowlers back. They were eventually all
out for 171 runs. The last wicket stand between Theekshana and Madushanka
produced 43 runs in 87 balls which was the highest for Sri Lanka.

was Player of the match for his early blitz with the ball took 3 wickets and
Rachin and Santner took 2 wickets each.
