Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal joined
Pakistan Team as coaches
Former Pakistan cricketer Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal have joined
the Pakistan side as the fast bowling and spin bowling coach, respectively.
The duo were part of the team of 2009 T20 World Cup and 2012 Asia Cup winning
squad.

Gul had also worked with the Pakistan Cricket team during the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan as well as the home series against New Zealand, this year. The former speedster was also the fast bowling coach for Quetta Gladiators in the last PSL and Afghanistan’s bowling coach in the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2022.
Meanwhile, Saeed Ajmal served as a spin bowling coach for PSL franchise Islamabad
United.
Speaking on his appointment Umar Gul said, ‘‘I am pleased to join as the fast bowling
coach of Pakistan team and feel honoured to have been given the opportunity to
contribute to Pakistan cricket by Chairman PCB Management Committee Mr Zaka
Ashraf. Having had the previous working experience with the men’s side, I will
bring my coaching expertise with the aim of elevating Pakistan’s bowling
prowess to new heights.’’
Ajmal too was elated about his new role. He said, ‘‘ I am
delighted to the development of spin bowling within the Pakistan national team.
I will believe my career and coaching experience will help enhance the spin bowling
arsenal of the team.’’
Former No 1 ODI bowler Saeed Ajmal who made his international
debut in 2008 represented Pakistan in 35 Test, 113 ODIs and 64 T20Is, and
picking up 447 wickets across the formats.
The former pacer Gul made his international debut in 2003, representing Pakistan
in 47 Tests, 130 ODIs and 60 T20Is and took 427 wickets across formats.
